Peruvian neck tie???
Thea, please email me a picture or video of this technique so I can identify the correct Japanese term.

Thanks,

OK,
The "peruvian neck tie" is a variant (henka) of hadaka-jime (naked hand strangle).
Be aware that it also places uke's neck in a bind and for judo purposes, it can be a possible neck crank. I am willing to bet that some referees will call hansaku-make on this. A solution for this will be to stay tight and press on the neck rather than to pull away and risking disqualification in judo.

Thank you, Leo! I was trying to show an alternative to taking the back and getting hooks in, in response to turtle. Whenever I've had this technique applied to me, I've never felt like it's a neck crank, but I can see how a ref would think that it was. Thanks for the tips!

Thea,

There's nothing wrong with this variation of hadaka-jime, I learned it over 30 years ago.
Unfortunally most of today's referees have never been exposed to advanced levels of judo and will not understand it if they see it. Best to play it safe and avoid a hansaku-make called on you. :)
